Ann Hunter-Paschall
Radiation Safety
During this past quarter Ann Hunter-Paschall has provided critical assistance in pursuing compliance with the complex and rapidly evolving Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements for fingerprint-based FBI criminal background checks on all personnel granted unescorted access to DUMC’s cesium irradiators.
This effort has involved many tasks:
- Tracking fingerprint cards submitted to the NRC
- Tracking the returned FBI reports or FBI rejected print notices
- Coordinating with Duke irradiator users to get fingerprinted.
- Tracking back charges to users for the NRC print processing fee and the Durham County Sheriff’s digital fingerprinting fee.
As part of her support for this program Ann has established an excellent rapport with her NRC contact, helping to cut through needless bureaucracy. As a result of her efforts, Duke can now demonstrate compliance with these NRC requirements with reduced impact on critical research activity.
Ann Hunter-Paschall has consistently demonstrated an exemplary professional work ethic since she has been with us. Her duties consist of assisting the Director of the Radiation Safety Office by performing a variety of administrative duties with wide latitude for exercising discretion and judgment.
