Powered Industrial Truck Safety

(fork lifts, order pickers, motorized pallet jacks, etc.)
Duke Forklift
There are many types of Powered Industrial Trucks. Those most widely used at Duke include fork lifts, order pickers and motorized pallet jacks. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requires that each Powered Industrial Truck operator be trained and competent.

OESO has developed a training program, which includes a classroom lecture, written exam and an operator's test. Upon successful completion of the training, employees receive an operator's license.  Operators are evaluated every 3 years to ensure that they remain skilled and knowledgeable in Powered Industrial Truck safety.

For more details and additional information, please read about Powered Industrial Truck Safety in the Duke University Safety Manual or see OSHA's page on Powered Industrial Trucks.
