MOSFET Workshop Held (Monday, June 15, 2009) |

The Duke Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory (DRDL) sponsored its first international workshop on “MOSFET Dosimetry” on June 12 and June 13, 2009. The highly successful workshop, which reviewed the use of electronic radiation dose measuring devices in medical practice, attracted a dozen participants from the United States, Canada, Ireland and Australia. |

DRDL Students Graduate (Sunday, May 10, 2009) |

Maryann Abogunde and Jason Paisley were among the Medical Physics graduates who received their diplomas on Mother's Day. Both Maryann and Jason earned their Masters degrees in Medical Physics. Maryann has accepted a position at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Jason will work in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. |

DRDL Postocroral Students win NCHPS "Best Paper" Award: (Monday, March 16, 2009) |

The "Best Student Paper" award at the Spring meeting of the North Carolina Chapter of the Health Physics Society, held in New Bern on March 12th and 13th, went to DRDL students Maryann Abogunde and Sangroh Kim. Maryann's paper is entitled "Dose Comparison between AAPM TG-61 protocol and MOSFET-based Phantom Dosimetry". Her colleagues included Greta Toncheva, Colin Anderson-Evans, Sua Yoo, Oana Cracuinescu, Bevery Steffy, Mark Dewhirst and Terry T. Yoshizumi. Joining Sangroh on his paper entitled "A Monte Carlo dose estimation method using a voxelized phantom for pediatric CBCT" were Greta Toncheva, Donald Frush, Fang-Fang Yin and Terry Yoshizumi. Congratulations! |

CAMPEP Accreditation for Duke Program (Friday, September 12, 2008) |

The Duke University Medical Physics Graduate Program has received word of its accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP), for both MS and PhD study. Accreditation is effective Jan 1, 2008 through Dec 31, 2012. This accreditation means that graduates of the Duke Medical Physics Program will qualify for the changes in board eligibility that are coming in 2012. DRDL staff who are members of the Medical Physics Faculty include Rath Gunasingha, Haijun Song, Robert Reiman and Terry Yoshizumi. The DRDL congratulates Dr. Dobbins, Dr. Yin, Dr. Samei and the faculty and students of the Medical Physics Graduate Program on achieving this important milestone. |
