DRDL WORKSHOPS

The Duke Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory (DRDL) is committed to educating physicians and medical physicists regarding the measurement of radiation dose, and the reduction of radiation exposure to patients. We are enthusiastic about sharing our expertise and experience with others by conducting workshops at which attendees can gain first-hand information about state-of-the-art radiation dosimetry techniques.

Instructional tools for DRDL workshops include anthropomorphic phantoms, ionization chambers, sodium iodide detectors, thermoluminescence dosimeters and MOSFET detectors. Our goal is to give attendees a 'hands-on' experience in the measurement of radiation dose from CT scanning and other radiologic procedures, and to reinforce the philosophy that 'less is better' when it comes to radiation exposure to patients.
