Lab Safety Recognition Program

The Lab Safety Recognition Program is a new initiative created to recognize and celebrate the individuals who go the extra mile to promote a strong safety culture within their lab. This program spotlights lab members who go above and beyond routine expectations, demonstrating exceptional commitment towards protecting the safety of their colleagues, Duke’s research facilities, and the broader research community.

Nominations are now open to all Duke research lab members, with recognition categories ranging from “hazard reduction” to “collaboration” and “emergency preparedness”. Winners will be selected each semester and highlighted through departmental recognition, a feature in Duke’s Research Insider Digest, and a framed certificate to show off in their lab. If you know someone whose actions embody outstanding safety practices, head over to the nomination form and help us celebrate the people who make our labs a safe place for scientific discovery! The deadline for Spring 2026 nominations is March 31st, and the winner will be announced near the end of April.
